This is my first post in July and my first post in a month.

I’d like to say that life has stopped me from blogging.  But the truth fits somewhere in between having bugger all to say and getting obsessed with the new Civilization V expansion pack – Gods and Kings.  I don’t actually play PC games as a rule – first person shoot em ups and the like make me feel nauseous – but give me a decent strategy, conquest the world game and there’s no stopping me.  Seriously.  I’ll sit there and play till three in the morning on a weeknight.

I’ve just come out the other end after converting 90% of the world to Judaism and taking home a cultural victory (which will make sense to anyone whose played the game).  Yes, there’s a whisper in my ear to return to the game and see if I can take over the world through might and violence… but… I’m getting better at telling that voice to shut the fuck up.

So, anyway, expect a few more posts over the coming weeks.  Nothing huge.  I’m never going to be a blog a day sort of guy.  But I’ll be around.  And hopefully next year I’ll even go back to reviewing genre novels.

In the meantime, I want to send my congratulation to Nick and Amanda on their recent nuptials.  It was great to go to Perth and see them get hitched.  The reception was laid back and fun as evidenced by this photo taken by the wonderful Cat Sparks.

On Thursday, Mitch, Dave and I – with the help of technical brilliance from Kirstyn – will be recording a new episode of Shooting the Poo.  Yes, for the six of you out there gagging for a new episode… we’re back!

And so, it would appear, am I.
