As some you (or most of you) will know, Victoria experienced it’s hottest day since records were kept – a whopping 46.4 degress (over 110F). Yesterday, Jules and I stayed inside trying to keep cool. But as we were doing, fire was raging in country victory, literally wiping whole towns off the map,
I vaguely remember Ash Wednesday.
But this, going by all reports and a mounting death toll of 65 people so far, seems so much worse.
My heart goes out to all those who have been affected by these terrible fires, Watching the news, seeing the devestation (and it looks like apocalypse has hit) I can’t help but feel smaller. I’m lucky to be living in the suburbs and I don’t want to imagine what it would be like to have a 40 foot wall of fire coming at you at 80ks an hour.

ETA: While it’s horrible to say this, the tragic death of Brian Naylor in the fires (one of Victoria’s leading news anchors before he retired, a person who for twenty years was the face of CH9) has made it all the more real. That said, you only need to see the coverage to know how shocking the whole thing is… with 84 dead. And rising.
🙁
