the magnificent How To Be Both by Ali Smith.

Obviously I’m delighted by this choice, given how much I adored the Smith.  And it’s increasingly looking like that How To Be Both is going to go down as the most nominated and awarded novel of the 2014/15 literary season.*

Now, to be fair, I’ve still only read two of the books on the Bailey’s shortlist.  It’s possible one of the other four other contenders will blow my mind.  But at the moment, and as biased as it may sound, I can’t help but think that the judges have made the right choice in this instance.
