.. that Kirstyn and I got nominated for a Ditmar for Midnight Echo.
It’s my first ever Ditmar nomination and I’m quite happy about that. Neither of us expect to win (and I’m not just saying that… I really do believe that the competition were against is far too tough). But it’s nice to be recognised. So thanks for the people who nominated us.
On that note, if you’d like to vote you can go here. http://conjecture2009.org/
But please only vote for Midnight Echo if you’ve read it and actually believe it’s the best of the anthology bunch. Obviously I think it kicks arse and is head and shoulders above the other nominees (that’s them below). But then as an arrogant, cocksure editor I would think that.
- Dreaming Again, Jack Dann (ed), (Harper Voyager)
- Canterbury 2100: Pilgrimages in a new world, Dirk Flinthart (ed), (Agog! Press)
- 2012, Alisa Krasnostein and Ben Payne (eds), (Twelfth Planet Press)
- Black: Australian Dark Culture Magazine, Angela Challis (ed), (Brimstone Press)
- Creeping In Reptile Flesh, Robert Hood (Altair Australia Books)
- The Starry Rift, Jonathon Strahan (ed), (Viking Juvenile)
Still, I wish the above good luck. I’ll be honest, I’ve only read one other of the anthos featured – that would be 2012, though I do own Canterbury. But that’s only because I’m lazy and slow. And 2012 was a very good antho. I think I reviewed on here… somewhere… and said nice things about it.
Also good luck to Kirstyn and Deb for their individual nominees. The nice thing is that this time they’re in seperate categories so I won’t need to choose between them. Both stories – Painlessness and Pale Dark Soldiers – are brilliant stories and deserve to be recognised with shiny awards.
