You all trust me, don’t you?

Well if you do, and if you wanna read some good shit, some real good shit by a crime writer who knows his stuff, than you can’t go much further than George Pelecanos.

Ignore all the mainstream hype. Pelecanos is not James Patterson or John Grisham. Pelecanos writes gutsy, hard edge crime with a strong sense of place and character. Nearly all his books – if not all – are set in Washington DC (the dirty, downtrodden bit) and like all good fiction DC is a character in the novels.

His early books (the Nick Stefanos series) are fantastic. And his more recent stuff – seen mostly through the eyes of PI Derek Strange – is even grittier.

So if you’re looking for something to read and you got hankering for some crime, don’t go past Pelecanos. He’ll look after you.
