Labor have won… Howard is gone (both as the leader and possibly as an MP…. his seat is on a knifes edge)… Costello is eating down them sour grapes… and Jules and I are very, very happy.

It’s good to see that climate change meant something to people in this election, more than tax cuts and even work choices.  For the last three or so hours, climate change concerns have been mentioned again and again.  And so, for the first time, it was something and not something negative (like last elections scare tactics on interest rates and boat people the election before that) to see Ruddy baby get across.

Of course, Rudd won the election on more than climate change.  Rising interest rates, the War in Iraq and Work Choices helped as well.  And yeah, there’s been a scent of change in the air for the last 6 or so months.

I suppose the only sad note in a brilliant night is that the Democrats are now dead as a party, losing their final seats in the Senate.

Rudd, please, please, please make me proud to be a Labor man.
