Due to having friends in high places, I had the opportunity of seeing the Premiere of Beowulf last night at IMAX.

And it was great.  The film sags a little in the middle, but, it’s still a cracking good story with Beowulf played as a flawed hero who succumbs to his own sense of pride (and a bit of lust).  Of course it’s written by Neil Gaiman (and Roger Avary), so you know it’s got a decent script.  But you’d need to check Wikipedia to see how close their version fits with the actual poem.

I recommend that if you can, you see it at IMAX and in 3D.  Seriously, you won’t be disappointed.  Because it’s a CG animated film, the animators makes the most of the 3D experience, especially when it comes to the violence.  It was cool having monster gore splash all over a huge IMAX screen.  (I mean, is there anything cooler in the world than IMAX?  Is there?)

Aside from the 3D monster and human violence, you also get too see Angelina Jolle’s CG animated and modeled breasts.  I mean, what more could a person ask for?

Ray Winstone is great as Beowulf, even if his voice sorta doesn’t fit the icy wastelands.  Anthony Hopkins and John Malkovich are also brilliant,

But seriously, see it at IMAX.  It’s so very worth it.
