Wednesday night is Rosh Hashana AKA Jewish New Year.

It’s time for thought and reflection and prayer and all that jazz.

All I’d like to say is that last year was the best year of my life.  It was the year I became engaged to Jules and the year I married her.  It was also the year I started a job that I hope to keep.  I’m on secondment, but my role has now been advertised internally and there’s a very good chance I’ll get it.

My writing is still in limbo.  Over the last 12 months I had two stories published.  One was Doctor Who – “Direct Action” in The Centenarian, and the other was a Bernice Summerfield story  “Cost for a Collection” in Collected Works.  I’m proud of both of them – especially Direct Action which game me the opportunity to do some research on the ANZACS and Galipolli.  I also got to write for my most favorite Doctor, Tom.  As for the Benny story – it was great working with Nick Wallace, who is fine man and fine editor.

But that’s all I’ve done writing wise and it’s time to up the ante.

This coming year will see two more stories by me.  One’s already been written, stars the 6th Doctor and will be out very soon.  The other… well the other I’ll speak about a bit later.  In anycase, I’m hoping for a bit more activity on the writing front.

I hope all of you out there – whether Jewish or not – have a happy and healthy and prosperous New Year.

And to Paul H – mate, my thoughts and Jules thoughts are with you.  I wish you a Refuah Shelema (a speedy recovery) and I only wish happiness and good things for you and your family.
