I simply don’t have time to review books anymore.  So for the six people who read my reviews, I am sorry.

That said, I can still make the following recommendations.  The Yiddish Policeman’s Union is a wonderful novel.  Not perfect, not as good as Kavlier and Klay, but well worth the read.  I loved it because of it’s unashamed Jewishness.  I’m not sure how it’s going to be recieved by the mainstream non Jewish public.  It’s a very Yiddish and very Jewish novel, and science fiction to boot.  (It’s set on an alternate Earth where Israel failed after three months and the majority of Jews live in Alaska.  Modern Hebrew is a dead language, while Yiddish is alive and well.  Oh, and it’s very noir).  I wasn’t so fond of the book’s ending, but it’s still well worth the read.

Anyway, Jules and I went to our food tasting for the wedding at the Crown Casino.  Jules will describe it better than I  ever could, but let’s just say I was damn impressed with the scotch fillet steak with carmelized onions… droooool.  So our menu is set.  And so are the table arrangements.  It’s all coming together.

Jules and I also saw Zodiac on Saturday night.  Fincher is a genius, but this is a slow, slow burn of a film.  It’s very good, very clever and precisely not what you think it’s going to be (which is very like Fincher).  It aint as good as Fight Club or Seven, but it’s still excellent cinema.

And Doctor Who on the weekend was a thrilling, magical piece of TV.  Not as good as Empty Child, but so very close.  Paul Cornell and co, take a bow.
