The pressure has been put on me by certain people *cough*

 *cough* and *cough*

*cough* to write more interesting LJ posts.  Apparently they’re not so keen on my purdy little book reviews.  Well, the books reviews aint stopping but I do promise to write more about what’s going on with my life – starting with

SPORT

My beloved Carlton Football Club are gearing up for their second NAB Cup Grand-Final in two years.  Yes, I know it’s only a small, shitty pre-season competition.  But when you’re as desperate to see your beloved, childhood side win a game and not be crushed into the dirt like they have been in the last few years… well it’s a big deal.  They won the NAB Cup in 2005, and everyone thought the Blues were gonna have a huge season.  Unfortunately no-one told Carlton that and they ended up on the bottom of the home and away ladder.  So… here’s hoping they win on Saturday and don’t repeat history.

And there’s the World Cup.  Australia start their campaign tonight against Scotland.  Of course they’re gonna win, but suddenly people aren’t so sure whether the Aussies have it in them to actually win the World Cup.  Hayden isn’t match fit, Symonds will be coming back from injury, the bowling is a bit wonky (though Tait is on the improve) and they’re actually missing Brett Lee.  Hogg might be the secret weapon on these slow, dull pitches… but for the first time in a long time, the World Cup is open to at least 4 or 5 sides – West Indies, South Africa, India and New Zealand are all chances to steal the Cup away from the Aussies.

Oh, and I had an amazing long weekend with

but you can real all about that on her LJ.  See what I did there?  See?
