You’re meant to write these buggers like on the first week of the New Year. So sue me, I’m late.

2006, for me, ranks there as the best year of my life. If you don’t know why you’re not my friend or your have selective memory issues. In anycase, here are the highlights, the lowlights, and lovelights *barf*

Relationships.

I met my soul-mate, I fell in love with her, I proposed to her at Mount Dandenong Observatory. This year I marry her. Her name is Jules. And she is just so funny, and sexy and filled with life. I sooo can’t wait for August.

[OK enough of the gooey romantic stuff]

Writing

Had two stories published – in this:

and this

I love both stories and won’t hear a bad word about them. I’m also halfway through writing my Uncle’s memoir (35,000 words). It’s taken me two years to get that far, but I’m hoping to finish it by April this year.

Fandom

Organised Continuum 4 with Mitch. It was hectic and mad and basically has made me re-evaluate my position (or view) on fandom. I like being a fan, but I don’t know if I can deal so much with fans anymore or at least organised fandom. I still have my fannish friends, and I’ll still do fannish things such as frequent the Nova Mob, but I won’t have the same passion for fannish events like the Natcon, which I may not actually go to.

All that bullshit aside, C4 rocked, Mitch and I are still friends, and thank God for an amazing committee who kept us mostly sane. All in all it was a good experience that I don’t regret doing but one I never want to do ever again.

Friends

I still have them, don’t think I’ve lost any and through Jules added a few more to the list.

Books

Read 46 books of which Stephen King’s Lisey’s Story was the most disappointing. I know I read some good shit last year, I just can’t remember it off the top of my head. Though one of my fave books for the year (and it nearly made me cry) was this one:

TV

Doctor Who rules – though Season 2 just didn’t have the jazz and buzz of Season One. Tennant was great, but he had moments when I wanted to slap him. I like Runaway Bride, but Torchwood sucked arse.

This year so me fall in love with Deadwood (care of Mitch), Sex and the City (care of Jules), Entourage (care of my brothers), The Lost Room (care of Ori) The Shield (care of Qqabal) and the American Office (worth watching people, trust me here). I also continued a strong, endearing relationship with BattleStar Galactica, West Wing (I’ll miss you dear show) and Lost Season 2.

Films

Little Miss Sunshine was the best film of the year for me. Closely followed by Children of Men and Casino Royale. Departed wasn’t bad. Descent was gory fun and the Prestige was great (I intend to read the book this year).

And that is all.

Roll on 2007. Especially August 5 when I stand under the Chuppah and am betrothed to my Jules.
