I’m appearing in my fourth Benny collection in a row in September. I wasn’t sure I had another Benny idea left in me. After writing Midrash (which now looks a bit rubbish compared to the other great stuff in Life During Wartime) and then Denial (which is still my bestest ever story) and then Family Man (which is okay, but a bit long and messy) I thought I’d seen the last of Benny.

But then I was contacted by Nick Wallace, the editor and another idea popped into my head and I submitted it and he liked it (with some suggestions) and now it’s all written and I’m tweaking and fixing and modifying as we speak. It’s not as good as Denial, but I’m pretty happy with it. It’s lean. It’s tight. And it’s a little bit funny and icky all at the same time.

The collection is: http://www.bigfinish.com/benny/BSN016_collectedworks.shtml (My name’s not there yet, but I’m sure it’ll pop up on a contents list sometime soon).

Nick’s put together and amazing line-up of writers and I’m really honoured to be amongst them. And from the snippets I’ve seen this is going to be a great collection. So Benny fans out there, go and pre-order it now.

Oh, and go and buy http://www.bigfinish.com/drwho_books/ST18_centenarian.shtml. I’ve now read it in draft form and it really does read like a novel. Again, another list of great writers, with some interesting new voices. My story, Direct Action, was a pain in the arse to write coz I had to do research. Whoever said research was fun doesn’t have a big enough book or DVD collection. And doesn’t know how to procrastinate. Anyway, go an pre-order that as well. The story of Edward Grainger is a worthwhile one.

And finally, a thank you to Sara E and Dave H. They both know why 🙂
