I’ve been quiet the last couple of weeks – I’ve had things on my mind… getting into my new job… enjoying the company of my new housemate… that sort of thing.

Throughout all this my all time favourite TV show has launched on BBC One to an audience of 11 million people approx (when you count in video recording etc). The show recieved an Appreciation Rating of 81% – which is quite amazing. The show has been renewed for a second season. And, as you all know, Chris Eccleston had decided to stand down as the Doctor.

All this in the space of about a week. It boggles the mind.

Okay, what follows is an angry rant. It has swear words – if the f word offends you don’t read on. I’d hide the rant behind one of those brackety things but I don’t know how to do it… and I don’t want to hide what I’ve got to say anyway. I want to be a raw and horrid and maybe a tad crazy. You’ll decipher what I’m saying between the cussing.

Alrightey – Doctor Who fandom can go fuck itself.

I speculated a week or so ago to a friend that within the next three or so weeks we would see a massive schism within Who fandom. My speculation was based on the style of the first story Rose. Some fans would revell in the change, others would hate everything it stood for – and because this is the internet age, online fandom would begin a civil war that would see it fracture down the centre.

I was right. And I was wrong.

So this is what happened. Chris decides to leave. The show is renewed. Both annoucements happen within minues of each other. How do fans react? Well, you’d think the fuckers would discuss the renewal of the show. But no, these c—, these areholes focus on the Negative. Because that’s all they’re capable of doing.

Two hours pass.

I go to Outpost Gallifrey and I see 500 posts discussing the news of a new series.

I see 1,500 posts discussing Chris leaving. These posts are filled with so much fucking bile that it made me sick reading them.

Fucking fandom.

Here’s my thing:

Chris Eccelston walks into a role which he wants to do. But there are things he doesn’t take it account and certain expectations are not met and you know what happens, he gets disenfranchised. Now, in the normal world, the one that’s not filled with dribbling, rabid, incoherent fan fuckers, someone leaves a job they don’t like. If you’re miserable, and you *can* move on, you move on.

But Chris is the Doctor and he has an obligation to the fans. Yes. An obligation. He goes when we say he goes. Otherwise, he’s betraying us. We don’t care that he’s not happy in his job. Chris knew what he was getting into and he has to please us because we’ve invested our emotions in him.

This is fan logic and it sucks the big one. It’s crazy, it’s demented it makes me sick. Fans can go fuck themselves.

And then you have a group of fans who can no longer muster the will to see the new series because Chris is leaving. What the FUCK is this! We’ve been waiting years for this show to come back to the screens and yet we’re quite happy to walk away from it because the star is leaving. Where’s the fucking perspective here? But what do you expect. Fans… they drive you nuts.

All this came to a head yesterday when Outpost Gallifrey’s forum went off-line. A way of calming down the chattering classes. I’m not sure it’s going to work. These sad fucks are still bitter and unless there’s a massive clamp down on free speech on OG, alot of them are going to flare up again. Because they can’t help themselves.

I don’t know what else to say.

All I know is this. I’m not going to let these bastards get to me. I’m going to watch the show and I’m going to enjoy it and hate it and fall in love with it and I’m going to be gagging for the second season. And if David Tennant gets the role, I’m going to congratulate the decision.

DOCTOR WHO IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everything else is meanignless propoganda.
