Had a very nice dinner with Janice, Lucy and Julian last night. Before Lucy and Julian showed up Janice and I had a fantastic conversation about Jewish Law – specifically whether women are able to touch and read from the Torah scrolls. Janice came with sources, killing any argument I might’ve had stone flat. Damn those sources!!!!!!

Anyway, the salmon was nice and the four of us spoke about all things fannish, which was cool.

Aside from dinner, there’s not much to report. I’m probably seeing Ray next week, I do love the bio-pic.

And at the moment I’m struggling through China Meiville’s “Iron Council”. Many people have said it wasn’t as good Perdido and The Scar and to be frank, at the moment, I have to agree. I’m 180 pages in and finding the world he’s describing doesn’t have the same sort of inventive spark. Perhaps it’s all a little bit too political this time around. That said, some of the writing is gorgeous, and at times I sit there and just admire how good a writer China is. I’m hoping things pick up…

Roll on the weekend… I can barely keep my eyes open.
