Yes, I’m back.

But rather than deal with the Russian Government / Mafia / hackers on LiveJournal, I’ve decided to move over to the much greener pastures of WordPress.  I’ll still be cross-posting, assuming the Journal Press tool works, but aside from that my days with LJ are over.  (Still, if you want to comment there I promise not to ignore you).

Essentially, this blog won’t be any different to what I was doing before.  I’ll still be reviewing stuff, spruking Writer and The Critic and Shooting the Poo and ranting about fannish things that strike me as worth the rant.  The difference is that because I’m time poor and patience poorer, these posts are going to be short and to the point.  Because if there’s one thing I’ve discovered in the last six months, unless you’re a brilliant writer there’s no point spending hours blogging a 1,500 word review about David Foster Wallace’s Infinite Jest that most people will ignore because they either (a) haven’t read the book (b) don’t care or (c) don’t have the time to read my ramblings about a wonderful novel that should have been nominated a Hugo back in the day.  And I don’t blame them.  The fact is, (and I blame twitter and facebook) I no longer have the brain power and will to read  long blog posts, even if they’re on a topic that I’m actually interested in.

So the philosophy of this blog is that brevity is king.  Other than that – the House rules are that anything goes!
